Creating Excellence Together CET Accreditation
The Board of Directors is very pleased to announce that LINX has earned a three-year accreditation in the CET standard program. This is a major accomplishment for an organization that is less than 2 years old. Full credit and kudos must be given to Kathy Assiniboine LINX's Executive Director and her hard working staff. The CET surveyors were impressed with the very positive treatment that they received from the LINX staff. Congratulations to Kathy and her staff!!
Valentine's Dance
LINX hosted a very successful Valentine's Dance at the Royal Canadian Legion on February 12th. More than 70 participants enjoyed themselves. A number of the attendees came from other organizations in Leduc. Well Done!!!
Leadership & Employee of the Month Awards
The Executive Director and the LINX staff have initiated awards to acknowledge unique leadership actions by clients and to recognize the efforts of individual staff members. The recipients to date have been:

Housing Opportunities
The Executive Director and the Board of Directors have been meeting with the Executive Director of the Leduc Housing Foundation. At a recent meeting Nancy Laing of the Housing Foundation announced that two 12-apartment housing projects are being planned for Leduc and will be built in the near future. The apartments will be one bedroom apartments. Six of these apartments will be LINX clients. This complex will be a transitional housing unit that will allow an individual to live independently with support from Outreach staff. The building that will house suitable LINX clients will be located across the street from Leduc Junior High School. This will provide another housing option for our clients.

Leduc Recreation Centre
LINX clients are beginning to make good use of the new Leduc Recreation Centre (LRC). The fitness centre at the LRC includes state of the art equipment and well-trained staff. Appropriate fitness programs are needed for the wellbeing of LINX clients. There are other facilities that will be available for clients' use. The City of Leduc is assisting with full subsidies for the LINX clients.
Computer Purchases
The Executive Director and the LINX staff are finalizing the purchase of new computers and computers equipment. This equipment is badly needed to assist the instructors help LINX clients improve their technological skills.
Nutrition Program
LINX staff members are working on a nutrition program for the LINX clients. The program will be offered at the Kosmos Community Kitchen at the LRC. It is expected that clients will be involved in the planning, the purchase of groceries, the preparation and eating of the food. More information will be forthcoming. This program and the purchase of new computers are supported by a grant from the City of Leduc.
Leduc Radio Concerts
In cooperation with many other non-profit agencies in the Leduc area and Leduc Radio, LINX has joined a joint fundraising effort. Leduc Radio is bringing cultural events to the Leduc area. Non-profit agencies can purchase the tickets for the event at a reduced rate from the radio station and sell them for the regular price and keep the profit. The first event featuring hypnotist C. Christopher will be at the Maclab Theatre on March 15th. Tickets are available at LINX.
Volunteers Needed
There is a need for volunteers to help complete the snoezelen room. Contact the LINX office for further details.
